1972 Vega - 350

This was the second V-8 Vega I owned. It was the second fastest car I have owned. It was built on a $1600 investment ($1200 for body and $400 for engine). The engine was four different 350-CID engines put together to make one good on, it had stock Chevrolet cast iron exhaust manifolds, a stock .410-inch lift Hyd. camshaft and lifters, the heads were 1.94-inch Intake and 1.50-inch Exhaust valves with 64-cc chambers, I built this engine to factory specifications for a 300-HP / 350-CID engine. the only new parts were camshaft, lifters, timing chain, all bearings, oil pump and a gasket set. I drove this car every day and put 10,000 miles on it before I sold it.

This is another one of my cars, it had a 305-CID engine when I first got it and I rebuilt a 350-CID engine and put in it. Other than the engine it was stock. It did have the big swaybars which was standard on the Spyder so handling was pretty good.

This car would have been the fastest car I owned, Powered by a 468-CID Big Block Chevrolet which had a Crower Roller Cam, Pete Jackson gear drive, Roller Rockers, 10.25 TRW Forged pistons, BG 750 Holley, Holley Strip Dominator intake, and Manley Stainless steel valves 2.19 intake and 1.88 exhaust. With an estimated horsepower of 600-HP and a 1850-pound car this should have been a 9-second street car.
